Girls Bathroom Design Board

There's so much inspiration around that I often feel my designs are going in many different directions. I love too many things and get distracted. Here's what I came up with for the girls bath and for better or worse I'm going to stick with it.

I really like keeping the fixed elements neutral and classic. That way the house won't feel dated in ten years time when fashions change. I'm planning on keeping the bath fairly neutral and monochrome with pops of color. The vanity is buttery cream and I'd like to include one accent wall with wallpaper on it. I'm in love with Anthropologie's Watercolor Peony
Anything will be better than what we have now, right?

ISO: Church pew

The idea for the foyer is slowly forming in my head. At this point it involves seaweed rug, church pew and this mirror I have been drooling over for ages now. For now I'm looking for a church pew. There are many available on Ebay and Etsy but only for local pick up in states far, far away. I'll be on a look out. Here are some pews used fabulously in home decor.

Happy 1st Birthday Home

Today is the first anniversary in our home. I can't believe it's been a year already. 2013 was extremely busy for us. Selling the condo, buying the house, having baby and going through major renovations. Today I have a chance to reflect on the past year and I'm extremely happy about how far we've come. Pillow Talk: Winter Edition

There are about 20 throw pillows in my house right now and I only love one of them. I've collected them over time and before I had a clear idea (which is always evolving) of how I wanted my house to look. I dream that one day when I don't spend all of my decorating budget on renovations I will have enough throw pillows to change them out every season. Etsy has a great selection of pillows and pillow covers. January feels fresh and cool yet cozy to me.

My contractor is great and he's old school too. I asked for small spacers on my bathroom tile and he came up with something I've never seen before.

Kids Talk

I came across this commercial yesterday and had to share. It's brilliant! As a mom of two girls I think it's a great idea to have girls involved in more technical fields and most importantly to make sure all fields are available to girls as well as boys. A couple of days ago my 3 and a half year old told me she wants to be an astronaut and go to the moon. It made my heart sing.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: The Ugly and The Bad

As charming as the house is, it's been neglected for years and last renovations were done in the seventies and it shows. The paneling is fortunately in only one room and I already have a color picked out to paint it. From the color palette it's obvious that the previous owners loved green and pink. I see paint, paint and more paint in my future.
